Pat’s 2020 watercolor portrait of Stephen Sondheim, donated to the Seacoast Repertory Company

I met so many wonderful people by way of this endeavor. One of them is beloved Broadway star, Melissa Errico! Melissa was kind enough to invite me to her Sondheim Master Class at the 92nd Street Y back in October 2024 (see above). It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience watching Melissa sing and coach eight budding performers. It was such a kind gesture and one I’ll remember always. Thank you Melissa! If you don’t already have Melissa’s newest album “Sondheim in the City”, go get it! If you don’t fall completely to pieces listening to her brilliant and beautiful interpretations of some of Steve’s timeless city-themed compositions, I’ll refund your money. Not really. But go get it HERE. Go ahead. I’ll wait…

Overwhelmed on June 20th.

…and the following day.

Over the summer, I decided I was going to learn to sing, even at this advanced age :-) ! I’ve been studying with Melissa Mansseau at the University of New Hampshire. I can carry a tune and am learning to go beyond that. Here’s moi singing Steve’s “What Can You Lose” from the motion picture, Dick Tracy. Be kind, I’m new at this!

I purchased this adorable Sondheim lapel pin on Etsy for $9.99. Here’s a link to that listing.

This is a wonderful biography of Stephen Sondheim. I’ve read it three times in 25 years. It’s superb. Get yours here.

Steve sings Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music.

I just picked up Stephen Silverman’s wonderful Sondheim biography. It’s beautifully put together with tons of interesting photos and graphics. I thoroughly enjoyed it! You can get one here.
