PUZZLE and maze books

Stephen Sondheim’s passions for puzzles and games, in particular, crosswords and math puzzles, has been well-documented. In the documentary, Six by Sondheim, Steve talks about the similarity of musicals and puzzles in that they beg to be solved by putting the pieces together exactly the right way. Both involve creating order out of chaos. These books that belonged to Sondheim up until his passing are unsigned, not inscribed, and are unmarked. But they were most certainly Sondheim’s books. I was told by someone who would know that Steve could solve puzzles in his head. Hence, the unmarked books. I’ve priced these for those who wish they had been able to acquire “just one thing” at the Doyle auction of the Sondheim estate. I’m making that a possibility and it makes me happy to do so.
